Town should not use Roundup
It has come to my attention recently that the BPW has been sending some of its employees out along Sconticut Neck, to spray noxious weeds growing along certain walls. All well and good
Unfortunately these employees have been given tanks of Roundup to accomplish their task. Monsanto, maker of Roundup has been fined billions of dollars, as Roundup has been shown to cause cancer.
Perhaps, both the BPW and the Board of Health might join forces and seek other alternatives.
As a gardener and a member of the town’s Sustainability Committee, I would suggest mixtures of white vinegar, dish soap and water. No doubt other gardeners have additional suggestions as well.
There are enough toxins in our air, food and water. No need to further antagonize he situation.
