Ring bells for 9/11

September 5, 2019 by Staff Writer

The Acushnet Fire Department has reluctantly cancelled their annual 9/11 commemoration event due to the EEE threat. The department is coordinating with local churches to ask them to ring their bells for one minute beginning at 8:46 a.m., the moment the first place struck the World Trade Center. At that time, firefighters will place a wreath at the memorial in Acushnet and will lower the flag to half-mast.

The public is welcome to visit the Acushnet 9/11 memorial at any time. It is always open and is on the grounds of Fire Station 1, 25 Russell St.
