Two teams from Dartmouth, and one each from Mattapoisett and Westport faced off at the 10th annual Fire Muster hosted by Fairhaven at Livesey Park on Sunday, 8/25/19. The day started with a wet parade along the streets of Fairhaven, with firefighters spraying the crowd with water, and the crowd firing back. On the muster grounds, the four teams competed in two wet hose events, one dry hose event and a mystery event: axe throwing. O
verall winner of the day was Dartmouth District 1, with a total time of 5 minutes, one second. Dartmouth District 2.5 came in second with a time of 5:33; and Mattapoisett took third with a time of 6:12. Camden DeMedeiros, 18, received the sportsmansip award, although it was unclear why he needed to show exemplary sportsmanship
Awards were also given for first to third place in individual events. Every team won at least one event. Other activities included bounce houses, face painting, music, food and apparel for sale. The food booth ran out of hot dogs and burgers, so it was definitely a success. Jean Jones of Mattapoisett won the 50-50 raffle of $110.
