Women in History tour

Lighting the Way Walking Tours: Women changing history, Thurs., 8/1, from 10:30.–11:30 a.m., meet at New Bedford Whaling Museum, 18 Johnny Cake Hill, NB. Learn about the history of New Bedford through the lives of women who fought to make the world a better place on this free one-hour guided tour. Hear stories of inspiring, civically-engaged SouthCoast women such as champion of historic preser­va­tion Sarah Ashley Delano, educator and labor leader Margaret Rycke­busch, doctor and voting rights activist Marie Equi, and educator and abolitionist Martha Briggs.

This FREE one-hour tour is part of the “Lighting the Way Historic Women of the SouthCoast” project and is presented in collaboration with the NB Whaling National Historical Park program “Lighting the World.” Visit http://historicwomensouthcoast.org
