A few months ago, Acushnet Town Meeting appropriated funds for the refurbishment of our older fire engines. The funds come from fees collected from solar developers, not from taxes. First up was Engine 1 which returned on 7/18/19 after an extensive repair vacation. New exhaust system, tie rods and springs, wheels and tires to name a few of the repairs. At 27 years old E1 was due for some TLC and is now ready for several more years of service.
