Oh…Town Meeting was fun, as always (see page 6), spent $50+ million of your tax dollars in about four hours. Pretty cool, huh?
We also had an interesting Selectboard meeting this week. News on the Colonial Club and the house and all that, remember? Looks like the town will benefit from the sale of the house after all.
The board also held a public hearing about very disturbing events at Rasputin’s Tavern. For once I agree with Dan Freitas (really, I do). He said it sounds like Animal House in there, and I agree. It sounds like it is out of control. They kept referring to the police report, which spells it all out, with pictures, too. However, I did not get that report until the story was all done.
The excuse was that some names had to be redacted. Well, that’s a bunch of baloney. It’s in the report, it was entered into the record. There are a few minors’ names in there, fine, it doesn’t take two days to redact a few names. Of course, I don’t have the BULK of the report, so maybe there is a lot more redacting going on. I got a few pages at the very end of the day, and a link to the larger report, but the link did not work. In any case, it was too late for me to use it in my article. I had to go by what they said in the meeting. Watch it yourself, it’s popcorn worthy. And, the public hearing was continued, so I think the next one might be even more popcorn worthy. There were only a couple of members of the public there, and they did not seem to be there specifically for that item, because they were not neighbors. I have a feeling that the neighbors did not know it was happening (note: the legal ad did not run in the Neighb News).
I always thought it was a curious name for a pub: the Rasputin of history was a scoundrel and a con artist who was assassinated. But, whatever.
THIS Rasputin’s has Bikini Fridays, and my disgust with the whole concept cannot be exaggerated. Because the women are covering the right places, I guess it’s legal. But dancing on the tables is not, and body shots (ugh) are not okay, either. Really, people. Take it home, or to the strip club. This is beyond demeaning to women, I don’t care how much money you’re making at it.
After I read the report and get more details, I’ll let you know what I find.
Meanwhile, the owners will be back in front of the board in a couple of weeks. That should be fun, too.
Until next week then…see ya,
