The eighth annual West Island 5K and Kids Mile Run saw a combined 382 take to the streets and finish the courses, with 28 youngsters in the kids mile and 354 in the 5K. First over the finish line for the kids was Alyssa Pareneu, 10, in 6:57; second was Michael Lubas, 8, in 7:45; third was Madison Lewis, 10, in 7:48. For the big kids, the top spot went to Michael Stone, 32, in 16:08; second was Eric Holmes, 33, in 16:22; third was Jeffrey Reed, 40, in 18:34. First woman over the and fifth overall, was Emily Stone, 29, in 19:46. The youngest runner was Henry Duzynski, 5, in 52:48, followed by Finn Poulos, 6, in 32:06. Oldest runners were Barbara Belanger, 82, who finished in 34:08, and James Lanagan, 82, in 47:16. Next year’s date is set for Sunday, 4/26/20.
