The Fairhaven Fire Department formally dedicated and blessed its new state of the art Ladder Truck on Friday April 12, 2019 with a ceremony at Fire Department Headquarters.
The new truck was dedicated in the memory of Lt. Earl M. Faunce (Deceased).
Lt. Faunce was a beloved member of the Fairhaven Fire Department. Even after his retirement he continued to help the department by writing and securing grants for such things as turnout gear and other assorted fire equipment.
Approximately 80 people crowded the fire station for the dedication. Family and friends spoke of Lt. Faunce as a father, friend, co-worker and dedicated firefighter.
Wayne Oliveira served as Master of Ceremonies. Deputy Chief Todd Correia welcomed the gathering and spoke on the hard work that went into making one of the finest pieces of firefighting equipment in the area. Pastor Robert Langevin then blessed the truck as it is placed into service. Other dignitaries included Selectmen Robert Espindola and Daniel Freitas, Union President Ed Freitas and Senior Firefighter Stephen Almeida. A plaque was affixed to the new truck which will bear the name of Lt. Faunce.
Ladder 1 is a 2018 E-One, 110 ft. Aerial Ladder Truck with a built-in waterway capable of flowing 1500gpm of water. The unit also contains a full air cascade system to fill breathing air tanks and a 20kW PTO generator. In addition, the truck has two 35-foot, one 28-foot, one 24-foot, one attic, one 20-foot roof, and one 16-foot roof ladders.
