Tues., 4/16, Big Ryan’s Tall Tales. 10:30 a.m. Join us as we welcome back Big Ryan, who is a favorite of children everywhere. No registration required. We’ll meet in the downstairs auditorium.
Wed., 4/17, two Space programs presented by Pat Monteith, an official NASA Solar System Ambassador who visits local schools and libraries. The morning program is for children ages 7-12, while the afternoon program is intended for grade 5 through adult. Downstairs. At 10:30, “The Sky is Falling!” Learn about Asteroids, the different types of asteroids and where they come from, the difference between asteroids and comets and whether or not an asteroid really killed the dinosaurs! Several hands-on activities include making impact craters and a model of the Asteroid Bennu. Discover how to look for pieces of asteroids in your backyard. For ages 7-12. Wed., 4/17, 2 p.m. we will learn about the International Space Station in “Discover the Universe with the International Space Station.” Information and hands-on activities about the Station (ISS): what it’s like living in a floating laboratory 240 miles above the Earth for 6 months or more and the challenges of living without gravity in outer space. How do the ISS astronauts perform daily tasks? What scientific experiments do the astronauts perform? A family event! Ms. Monteith will return during the summer for another program to accompany the theme for Summer 2019, “A Universe of Stories.”
Thurs., 4/18, 2:30-4:30 p.m. Join us for Spring/Easter/Passover/Earth Day crafts and fun. We’ll also set up some board games. (Bring some of your own if you like, as well as Legos, Pokemon, etc.) Downstairs. Ages 3 and up. Teens welcome!
