Acushnet Candidates Night

ACTION will hold its annual candidates night on Thurs., 3/21, at 6 p.m., at the Acushnet Senior Centr, 59 1/2 So. Main St., Acushnet. All candidates have been invited to participate.  Candidates will face questions from a moderator and the public. All Acushnet residents are encouraged to attend

Dog License Reminder

Dog Licenses are now available in the Town Clerk’s Office. All dogs (indoor and outdoor) 6 months or older must be licensed by the Town Clerk. Each license is valid from January 1, 2019 thru December 31. 

COSTS

• $10.00: Spayed females and neutered males; $15.00 for all unaltered dogs 

• $20.00: Kennel license for 3–4 dogs 

• $50.00: Kennel license for 5–15 dogs 

• $100.00: Kennel License for over 15 dogs 

According to the Town of Acushnet By-Laws, all owners are required to license their dog(s) between January 1st and March 31st of each calendar year. If an owner obtains or takes possession of a dog(s) after March 31st, he/she must license their dog(s) within three months of possession.  Failure to license will result in a $50.00 citation fee and a late fee of $15.00 for each unlicensed dog.

Failure to vaccinate your animals against rabies will also result in a $100.00 citation fee for each animal.  mPlease remember, State Law requires that you present a valid rabies vaccination certificate of dogs 3 months and older to the Town Clerk prior to licensing. 

To license your pet by mail, please send us a copy of the rabies certificate from your Veterinarian, a check payable to the “Town of Acushnet,” 130 Main St., Acushnet, MA 02743 and a self-addressed stamped envelope. The Town Clerk’s Office will promptly return your rabies certificate, along with your 2019 Dog License and tag.

Office hours are Monday, Wednesday & Thursday – 8:00 a.m. thru 4:00 p.m., Tuesday 8:00 a.m. thru 7:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. thru 11:30 a.m.

Rabies Clinic

Acushnet will hold its 2019 Rabies Clinic on Sun., 3/24, a the Acushnet Town Barn, 700 Middle Road, from 9 a.m.–noon. 

Fee $10.00/per animal*. Rabies vaccine 1 & 3 year (three year rabies vaccine available WITH PROOF OF CURRENT VACCINATION).

Hosted by Acushnet Animal Hospital

*All dogs must be on a leash and cats in carriers.
