Rep. Office Hours
Rep. Chris Hendricks will begin holding district office hours from 10 a.m. to noon, Sat., 2/2, at the Wilks branch of the New Bedford Public Library, 1191 Acushnet Ave.
Residents are invited to stop by with any questions or concerns.
Additional district hours will be held on the first Saturday of each month at Wilks and the second Saturday of each month at the Acushnet Public Library, 232 Middle Road, Acushnet, from 10 a.m. to noon.
Upcoming Wilks branch dates are March 2, April 6 and May 4. Hendricks will be at the Acushnet Library Feb. 9, March 9, April 13 and May 11.

The Acushnet Public Library welcomes local author and Chronicle reporter Ted Reinstein for aauthor talk on Mon., 2/11, at 6:30 p.m., in the Library Community Room at 232 Middle Rd., Acushnet, MA 02743.
Local author, Ted Reinstein, will speak about his book, New England’s General Stores: Exploring an American Classic. The general store, as old as America itself, harkens back to a simpler time and a more innocent and rural nation. The general store conjures a country-like place where kids come in to buy penny candy, and adults to buy everything from swaths of fabric, to fresh vegetables, to four-penny nails. It was a place to pick up mail, the newspaper, and perhaps tarry a bit on a cold, winter’s morning to chat over a cup of coffee and a warm wood stove. Fact is, the general store is still very much here, and very much in business. What’s more, like the diner, it has seen resurgence. In some places, it is even being reimagined for a new era.
Ted Reinstein has been a reporter for “Chronicle,” WCVB-TV/Boston’s award-winning — and America’s longest-running, locally-produced — nightly news magazine since 1997. In addition, he is a regular contributor for the station’s political roundtable show and writes a weekly opinion column. He is the author of Globe Pequot’s New England Notebook and Wicked Pissed: New England’s Most Famous Feuds.
He welcomes questions during and after his talk; a book signing follows.
