The floating dock at Hoppy’s Landing has been taken out of the water for maintenace. Crews from Fortress Marine have been repairing the wear and tear on the dock. Some maintenance is done every year while the dock is in the water. Every five years the dock is pulled from the water for more extensive repairs.
Fairhaven Harbormaster Timothy Cox said that much of the wood around the sides of the dock will be replaced.
After just a couple of days, crews had already scaped the bottom, power-washed, primed, and applied bottom paint.
The project was on schedule to completed with in the seven-day period, but rain could interfere with the schedule.
The gangway has been lifted and the gate closed, but the ramp is open.
