Some benefits of responsible recreational marijuana use include:
- Calms rather than inebriates the mind into possible aggressive behavior.
- Enhances sexual pleasure.
- Improves sleep without the usual side effects of alcohol.
- Can increase creativity.
The benefits of medicinal and recreational cannabis offer a new generation of young and old the opportunity to be able to take advantage of this superior botanical.
In addition, the use of hemp (the by product of cannabis) brings a whole new sustainable material to the Eco-friendly table. Hemp can be used to make paper, clothing, food and so much more; The Constitution and Betsy Ross’s flag were both hemp material, a popular choice at the time.

It appears that the opponents of retail sales of marijuana are not focusing on the benefits that this industry brings. It is the “not in my back yard” mentality, that has stagnated businesses in Massachusetts for years. Casinos are not wanted in our back yard, power plants are not wanted, halfway houses are not wanted, and so on and so forth. How many times are we going to push development away to save our precious town?
Miss Delano quoted a drug abuse report that listed the negative effects of marijuana. Is it my imagination, but could not these same effects be attributed to cigarettes, and alcohol. But do you see Miss Delano or Mr. Roderick petitioning for the closure of any retail store offering those products, or fat laden foods to its obese patrons, or the closure of bars or restaurants that allow parents to bring their children where alcohol is being served.
Nor do they advocate for the removal of doctor’s licenses that prescribe opioids to their patients? What about the drug companies that manufacture all these miracle drugs whose side effects are more detrimental than the possible good effects? They are not saying one word about this.
Take a walk down Sconticut Neck road! The road is littered with Dunkin Donut trash, more beer cans and bottles than you can shake a stick at, and tossed cigarette packages. Where’s the outrage on this?
Stop pushing your antiquated agenda on the general public.
Get real, this is 2018 and the industry is here to stay. Stop living in the 1960’s and let us make it better for the future. I believe in regulation, but I do not believe in living with old stigmas that are not relevant any longer.
