Newcomers to Fairhaven and longtime Fairhaven library patrons are invited to join the staff and Friends of the Millicent Library on Sat., 9/22, to learn “What’s Up at Your Library? More than Books.”
Tours of the library—highlighting the art collection—will be given at 10:00 and 10:15. At 10:30, Children’s Librarian Jane Murphy will introduce the library’s collections and services for children and young adults, including story time and summer programs.
At 11:30, Archivist Deb Charpentier will explain the library’s local history resources, including the digital edition of the Fairhaven Star, the Lost Fishermen website, and the town’s cemetery records.
At 12:30, library staff and volunteers will demonstrate the digital resources available through the Millicent Library (audio books, e-books, Hoopla, OverDrive), and show visitors how to acquire an e-library card from the Boston Public Library to access even more online resources.
Staff will be available throughout the day to help Fairhaven residents sign up for library cards. (See the library’s website, http://millicentlibrary.org/the-millicent-library-rules/ to find out what you need to bring.)
Visitors are also invited to join the Friends of the Millicent Library to help us support library programs.
Refreshments will be served in the Community Auditorium from 1:30–2:30.
