Historic Women’s Trail

Walk the new historical walking trail guided by Lighting the Way experts on Sat., 9/22, at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Start at the NB Whaling Museum, 18 Johnny Cake Hill, NB. FREE, 90 minutes. The Whaling Museum’s Emily Bourne Research Fellow, Ann O’Leary, and Lighting the Way adviser, Mary Howland Smoyer will share stories about some of the inspiring women who shaped the city’s history. Learn about educators, philanthropists, abolitionists, cru­saders for social justice, investors, confectioners, sister sailors, millworkers, and others as you walk through downtown New Bedford.
