Let’s be Clear Fairhaven: It is about Permitting Recreational Marijuana Stores
The issue is about the retail sale of recreational marijuana in Fairhaven. If adults want to use marijuana for recreational purposes, it is their business. All they have to do is cross the bridge to New Bedford to obtain it.
Bask continues to focus on the benefits of medical marijuana. This issue is NOT about medical marijuana, it is solely about permitting retail marijuana stores in Fairhaven. The matter of medical marijuana is settled.
The position that the age of 21 is a safeguard is farcical. Minors will obtain it just as they do alcohol, and to ignore the fact that there exists a teenage drinking problem is incredulous.
The only benefit to accrue from retail sales is to the financial pockets of BASK.
While Fairhaven voted to decriminalize marijuana statewide, the voters of Fairhaven did not specifically authorize its retail sale in Fairhaven. Given the long term impact of this issue, the voters should have an opportunity to weigh in as provided for in the legislation.
