Ocean health and marine science will be front and center at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, 18 Johnny Cake Hill, New Bedford. Visitors of all ages can celebrate the ocean and learn about marine life at the Museum’s FREE “Party for the Ocean” on Mon., 8/13, beginning at 10 a.m. and running until 3 p.m. Activities in the Museum’s Jacobs Family Gallery are free for everyone. Access to the Museum’s other exhibits and galleries during Party for the Ocean is subject to regular admission fees (free for Museum members).
During Party for the Ocean, visitors can experience how whales stay warm, how they see, hear, and stay afloat, or even explore inside a 43-foot inflatable humpback whale. Also featured is an up-close-and-personal ocean touch table from the Lloyd Center for the Environment, simulated dolphin rescue and marine animal rehabilitation with National Marine Life Center, and other activities presented by the Buttonwood Park Zoo, Buzzards Bay Coalition, and the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s High School Apprentices.
This event is made possible by the Whaling Museum in partnership with Buttonwood Park Zoo, Buzzards Bay Coalition, Lloyd Center for the Environment, National Marine Life Center, and the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s High School Apprentices.
