Get Inmates to Help With Beach Cleanup
I have a couple of local concerns that need your attention and help. A recent publication in Dartmouth Week headlined that our Bristol County inmates are now raking the beach at Round Hill in Dartmouth… Free of Charge!
Last time I checked, Fairhaven is still in Bristol County and we have a beach at West Island! What are we, second class tax payers? Our Beautiful beach also has seaweed and wash up material covering it. Shouldn’t we also qualify for inmate participation?
Additionally, It’s wonderful news that “Off the Hook” is expanding. That’s every small business’s goal, to serve and accommodate more patrons and prosper. However, let’s ensure that these additional patrons abide by the speed limit of 25 mph on Goulart Memorial Drive, something that’s not being enforced presently!!

WI Movie Night Strenthens Community
I would like to thank publicly and acknowledge the support of the West Island Improvement Association for providing the classic movie series to the Fairhaven community this summer.
June 15th was the debut of this event, with the classic “Casablanca” starring the legendary Humphrey Bogart. Not only was it enjoyable to watch the film with like minded people, it was an opportunity to participate in a lively discussion before and afterwards with some added little known facts about the film production and its actors.
The idea behind the series was to create an atmosphere to meet new people from beyond their immediate neighborhoods. The more events provided within the community, the more we create a stronger community. It offers you an evening to view some classic films and enjoy the food fare available. The movies are free, the popcorn is fresh, the conversation is stimulating, so all I can suggest to your readers is “Here’s looking at you” in hopes that you will join us on June 28th for “Sunset Boulevard.” Donations to WIIA welcome.
