Almost all textiles can be recycled or reused, and the Fairhaven Board of Health has teamed up with Bay State Textiles to take your old clothes, shoes, belts, stuffed animals, linens, pocketbooks, totes, etc. “If you can wear it, Bay State Textiles accepts it,” boasts the website.
Fairhaven now has three donation boxes at: The Fire Station, 146 Washington Street; Council on Aging/Senior Center, 229 Huttleston Avenue; North Fairhaven Improvement Association, 267 Adams Street/Benoit Square.
Even worn out and stained items can be reused. As long as they are dry and clean, BST accepts them. Ninety-five percent of all textiles can be reused, even stuffed animals, throw rugs, and a long list of other items people may believe they cannot recycle.
What’s NOT accepted: Mattresses, couch cushions, lawn furniture cushions, foam products, carpet remnants and rugs larger than 2’x4′.
For more information, including a list of items accepted and not accepted, visit baystatetextiles.com Please put all items in a bag and tie the bag.
