Elizabeth Hastings Middle School held an intergenerational paint night, giving seniors and students a chance to share an evening of fun and learning. This free event was a collaboration between the EHMS Learning Community and the Town of Fairhaven. About 30 seniors attended on Tuesday evening, 5/8, in the school cafeteria.
Art teacher Tim Lee facilitated the event, which gave students an opportunity to interact positively with community members and assist them on painting techniques that they have learned.
“This was such a positive experience,” wrote principal Nicholas Bettencourt in an email. “We are planning another EHMS Paint Night this upcoming Fall.”
The evening included light refreshments and popcorn donated by Pub 99 Restaurant. The EHMS Chamber Ensemble performed and grade 7 scholar Brooke Boucher sang a song from Tom Petty.
