I personally received a call from someone who identified themselves as working for the American Officers’ Association doing a fund raiser.
Yeah! boy did they pick the wrong number to try to pull this one off!
The number that came up on the display was 781-613-1095 out of Dedham. This is a scam and I want people to be warned NOT to donate to this organization. They claim to be a 527 organization. I think they meant to say 501c3, but who knows.
I attempted to call the number from a secure line at the station and got through to no one. I got an answering machine with a female’s voice, speaking with a foreign accent.
Please warn the public NOT to donate to them.
If they ever have questions about law enforcement organizations conducting legitimate fund raisers, please have them confirm with their local police departments.
