Book Fair
More than a dozen South Coast authors will sign and sell their books at the second annual Millicent’s Book Fair, Saturday, 12/9, from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. in the Millicent Library auditorium, Center and Walnut Streets, Fairhaven. Eight authors will read from their works from 12 to 2.
The readings will kick off with Maureen Boyle reading from Shallow Graves, about the New Bedford highway murders, followed by Beth Luey, reading from House Stories, nonfiction short stories about the people who lived in historic Fairhaven houses. They will be followed by J. A. Hijiya A Piece of Valiant Dust: An Essay in Living; George Holt and Elizabeth Palm, Run Away to Glory; Sheri Breault Kreitner, Secrets of Syn; James Marlow, Seeing Auras; Jaimy Mauricio, Beyond 2012: Watch Where You’re Going; and Red Cummings, Murder, Manslaughter, and Mayhem in the South Coast; Jacqué Stoddard, The Eagle’s Claw, Blinding Deception, and Vision: The Path to Danger.
Other participating authors include Cheryl Aguiar, Great Horned Owlets Rescue; Steve Berg, A Christian in Loved; Gioia Dimock, Whaling in Massachusetts; Richard Cutler, Course Correction; Robert Demanche, The Last of the Fairhaven Coasters; Michael Dyer, Original Art of the Yankee Whale Hunt.

Old Time Holiday
Fairhaven’s 22nd Old Time Holiday will include a variety of events, with the highlight being a group of holiday fairs and the Town Hall Shops on Saturday, 12/9. (See ad on back cover.)
First organized by the Fairhaven Office of Tourism in 1998, the Old-Time Holiday is a cooperative effort between many of the town’s non profit groups.
The majority of the events take place on Saturday, when fairs and marketplaces and other activities are held in the Town Hall, the First Congregational Church, the Unitarian Memorial Church, Our Lady’s Haven and The Millicent Library in the historical center of town. Visitors can shop for arts and crafts, gifts, food items, and enjoy holiday luncheons, musical entertainment and more.
On Sunday afternoon there will be a House Tour sponsored by the Fairhaven Historical Society and a Service of Lessons and Carols at the Unitarian Memorial Church.

Free Holiday Parking
In an effort to encourage everyone to do their holiday shopping in New Bedford, Mayor Jon Mitchell has announced that New Bedford will again offer a special Holiday Parking Program Through Monday, January 1, 2018, the City of New Bedford will offer FREE parking at your first metered space for up to two hours in both the Downtown and on Acushnet Avenue, or up to two hours FREE parking at the Elm Street Garage, and the Zeiterion Garage!
