After Thanksgiving the lights go up! Houses in and around Fairhaven have decorated for the holidays and no doubt, they are hoping you’ll drive by and enjoy their work. Here are two of the more well-known houses that light up every year to the delight of motorists and neighborhood walkers. But there are many, many more. Drive around, or walk around your own neighborhood to enjoy the lights.

35 Gellette Road in Fairhaven is decorated each year with more than 100,000 lights and uses more than 300 feet of extension cords and 6,000 zip ties to hold them all in place. It takes about 20 days to set up, and Marc Robillard has been decorating for 15 years. The decoration was the subject of an award-winning video by Bethany Fernandes titled “Close to 190,000” and available at: www.vimeo.com/bethanyfernandes Photo by Beth David

This house on Route 6 near Welcome Street is a veritable beacon along the busy state road. Please be careful when you drive by. Do NOT stop on Route 6, and don’t slow down too much. You can pull into a side street and stay on the sidewalk to view the lights. Photo by Beth David.
