The Acushnet Lions Club, Rivers End, the Boy Scouts, and some pretty hardy motorcycle riders teamed up to make the holidays a little bit brighter for some local families.
A happy crowd met outside the River’s End on Main Street in Acushnet on Sunday to receive donations of food and toys. They filled a dump truck and a pickup truck, that both eventually ended up at the Shepherd’s Food Pantry in Acushnet.
Cost to join the motorcycle run was $10, one toy and one non-perishable food item.
Approximately 40 bike riders donned their cold weather riding gear and joined the ride. Lots of other people stopped by just to throw in a toy or a bag of food to the mix. Linda and Chris Taylor donated a hatchback full of toys from the Adam Taylor Memorial Foundation.
This is the eighth year the Rivers End has sponsored the drive with the Lions Club.
