Thank you for helping us clean up the shore
I just wanted to say thank you for posting our events all year!!!!! I really appreciate it!!!!
We picked up 1,961 pounds of debris and 62 hypodermics this year.
Many of the volunteers that joined saw our notice in the Neighb News.

Espindola is not for the little guy
Once again [Fairhaven] Selectman [Robert] Espindola wants to reach into the taxpayers’ pockets for more money.
At the property tax rate review in the last meeting (see 11/23/17 issue) he was pursuing an approach to shift more of the tax burden from businesses to homeowners.
This is the same guy who wanted to reach in your pocket for a pay as you throw trash policy a few years ago.
It is evidently clear that protecting the homeowners dollars is not high on his priority list. He is 0 for 2. He seems adamant about increasing our living expenses instead of finding ways to stretch our dollars.
He claims his stance in promoting a shift in the tax rate from business to homeowners is because some have told him the tax rate in Fairhaven hurts businesses. Really? The tax rate is far worse in New Bedford and Fall River yet businesses are opening daily in those cities.
Breaking News Mr. Espindola, many fellow homeowners in town tell me that water, sewer, and tax bills make it hard for them to live in Fairhaven. Who is speaking for them?
The experts told Mr. Espindola that if he wants to lower business costs it is best achieved through a TIF, Tax Incrimental Financing, on a case by case basis, but after saying he was quite familiar with TIFs he persisted in his desire to look at shifting a higher tax burden on homeowners and away from businesses in the future.
These are simply amazing thoughts and evidence of being tone deaf to the realities of the average person. A good number of people in this town are seniors with no wage increase while many others also do not work for multinational companies that offer annual wage increases that can absorb these non sensical added taxes and or fees he promotes again and again.
Hopefully, next year or whenever he seeks to pursue this approach the other Selectmen will vote to block this nonsense.
