The Paskamansett Bird Club’s October meeting will be Wed., 10/11, at 7 p.m. at the Community Hall of Friends Meeting, 739 Horseneck Road, in South Dartmouth. Free and accessible.
Dan Berard will discuss how birds spend their winter vacations: where birds go in the winter, what habitats they prefer, the foods they find to eat, and the ways they interact with other species. Some of our local birds travel as far as Central and South America for the winter, while others go to the southern United States. Some even tough it out in New England, and there are also species that travel here to escape the harsher climates of the north.
Dan Berard is a lifelong birder for whom birds were a gateway into an overall fascination with natural history. He has led birding and natural history tours across the country.
