Area residents can participate in a paper shredding day in downtown New Bedford sponsored by New Bedford’s Department of Community Services, the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District, and Shred It. On Sat., 9/16, from 9:00 a.m. to noon at the parking lot across from City Hall on the corner of William Street and North 6th Street (enter on William Street).
Businesses and residents of Greater New Bedford are welcome. Charge is $5 per box. Cash or check only. Each box should weigh no more than 30 to 40 pounds.
Participants are welcome to watch the destruction of up to two of their boxes of paper. For more than two boxes, shredding may occur off-site. Certificates of destruction are available, if needed.
Paper clips and staples do not need to be removed, but please remove paper from folders and binders. Shredded paper will be recycled into new products such as paper towels.
