Academy Building/Museum Open
It’s the perfect time to reopen the doors of the Academy Building and invite you to explore Fairhaven’s rich history. We will be open every Saturday, from 11-2, through the end of November, at 141 Main Street, on the West Lawn of Fairhaven High School. The museum is free to all and donations are much appreciated.
Did you know that the Academy Building was built in 1798 as a private school and opened as the New Bedford Academy in 1800? .
You can view one of the preserved classrooms on the first floor. Be sure to go up to the 2nd floor to visit the Fairhaven Historical Society Museum while there!
