The fall events have kicked in for real. We’ve got all kinds of stuff happening all at once.

If youre a runner, you have a couple of choices, but I want to make sure you know about the Run to Remember in honor of LCpl Matthew Rodriguez, a hometown kid who was killed in action in Afghanistan. The proceeds benefit the memorial fun in his name. It’s his Sunday, Details are on page 5.

Next up: Some hateful little you-know-whats are at it again stealing our papers from some of our biggest drop sites. Really, guys, this is spiteful and petty. I hope one of my big, burly readers catches you at it.

The Select Board held their appointment meeting (see page 14). I have a LOT I want to say about it, but I’m on deadline.

The upshot is: Don’t insult Town Meeting members by saying they didn’t know what they were voting for. It’s not “unintended” consequences, it’s absolutely intended.

2: GAWD, it’s not always all about you Mr. Carr and your buddies. People have been talking about doing this for decades.

3: All of these boards are open to the public and they are required to post the meetings ahead of time. Go, participate, volunteer when they do stuff. You don’t need to be a voting member to make a difference. Technically, yes, the chair can stop you from speaking, but usually they’ll let you speak.

4: Just because a person has a business in town doesn’t mean they should have a right to be on a board. Business interests are not the same as resident interests and sometimes they are quite at odds with each other.

5: God Bless ya Mr. Brady….you made that argument with a straight face. And kudos to the board members for treating it as such. I would’ve laughed out loud.

The Halloween Trail is in this issue. So…get out there and be scaried….

There’s other stuff in here, of course. Thumb through to find it all, and while you do that, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.

And, one more thing. Get your Halloween yard on the list. Yeah, it’s that time.

Until next week… see ya,

Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
