Halloween Trail and Off the Trail but Worth the Trip
Halloween is Saturday, 10/31
By Beth David, Editor
Welcome to our 21st annual Halloween Trail.
Most are drive/walk by or wander around this year. But a couple are still sending you through the gauntlet of horror, twisting around the yards, with who-knows-what jumping out to scare the bejeebers out of you. Don’t be surprised, though, if a few others do the same…unannounced.
See “Off the Trail but still worth the trip” on page 18 for other events like the Horribles Parade THIS Sat.
Please be respectful when you visit and are wandering around the yards. Remember that these are people’s private yards. Don’t touch, try not to get too scared. Feel free to scream.
Let us begin…in Fairhaven
1: Oliver Street
We don’t have an exact address foryou this year on Oliver Street, but we have it on good authority that there are still a couple of haunts worth your trouble.
•••
Head to the center of town, where we KNOW there are other places that are spooky. It’s a veritable Little Salem out there on Halloween night, with all kinds of ghouls and goblins running around. Be sure to go by on the Big Night to see special things that are only put out on that one night. Many are decorated already, but be sure to go at night because the lights are spine tingling.
•••
2: 6 William Street

6 William Street, Fairhaven. Submitted photo.
This ominous looking house is lit up with a different color depending on the night, starting at dusk from now until Halloween. And you’ll have to gather up your courage to walk through this yard for sure. When you get to the porch, you’ll be diabolically surprised. What’s that in the window you ask? Go see for yourself if you dare! House is lit up nightly and is decorated. Candy on Halloween only. Submitted photo.
•••
3: 127 Laurel Street.

127 Laurel St., Fairhaven. Submitted photo.
You’re now getting to the heart of the center and the heart of the real Halloweentown, where you might encounter some very fine spooks. If you have the courage to go up those stairs you will definitely earn your treat! Lights are on from dusk to around 9 p.m. Submitted photo.
•••
4: 66 Pleasant Street.

This is just a sampling of what you’ll get on Pleasant Street, but…but.. but…this is 66!
There are many others on and around the street, so take your time, ride up and down all these streets in the center of town. Submitted photo.
•••
5: ALL of Green Street.

The Unitarian Memorial church looms in the background as kids are treated with lots of goodies (and scares) on Halloween night, 2022, in the center of Fairhaven. Photo by Glenn C. Silva for the Fairhaven Neighborhood News.
Oh, and don’t forget Green Street, too. That corner by the UU church is bound to be populated by creatures you’ve never encountered before. Many are decorated now and especially this weekend. It’s like Salem in Hocus Pocus (minus the broom stealing)!
•••
6: Haunted Cathedral

The Haunted Cathedral in the center of Fairhaven invites you. Submitted graphic..
Corner of Green & Center Members and friends of the Unitarian Universalist Society of Fairhaven invite costumed kids to come by for treats and spooky fun Halloween evening on 10/31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., or until the candy runs out.
Visit our (not too scary!) Haunted Cathedral and collect some goodies at the corner of Green and Center streets, a traditional hot spot for trick-or-treating. There may be some Instagrammable photo ops!
The event will be canceled in case of rain.
Worship service is at 10 a.m. Sundays at the 102 Green St. church. All are welcome. For more information, call (508) 992-7081 or visit uufairhaven.org

7: 86 Church Street/Bellamy’s Pirate Cove

Beware the creatures of Bellamy’s Pirate Cove, 86 Church St., Fairhaven. Submitted photo.
The witches are still gathering at 86 Church Street, teaming up with the ghosts of Bellamy’s Pirate Cove to give you a spine tingling experience this spooky season.
Open nightly, and Halloween night from dusk to 10 p.m. We will be giving out pirate flags and candy. Be prepared for anything! Submitted photo

Beware this sea creature of Bellamy’s Pirate Cove, where witches gather and sea creatures live among the landlubbers, conspiring to give you a spine tingling experience this spooky season. Submitted photo.
•••
Now head back north on one of the main drags (Green, Pleasant, Adams) and pop up Washington Street to Sconticut Neck Road. I didn’t hear from John and Timothy Streets, but I’m guessing they are worth the ride, if past years are any indication. Then back up to Sconticut Neck Road to…
•••
8: 62 Hacker Street

62 Hacker St., Fairhaven. Submitted photo.
It’s the witches in charge of the front yard this year, but they are not alone! We’ve got some creatively creepy minds, or, maybe creepily creative minds. Either way… swing by any night from now until Halloween after 6:30 p.m. when the lights are on. Submitted photo.
•••
9: West Island

Now, head to West Island, south along Sconticut Neck road. We have it on great authority that there are more than a few yards on the way that will also welcome you, so pay attention.
When you get to the island, just cruise around. You’ll find lots of fun and scary places to visit, including…

10 164 Dogwood St.

The Creepy Tiki bar, complete with creepy tiki patrons, is set up at 164 Dogwood, but…I wouldn’t try that brew if I were you.
Lit up every night, treats on Halloween.

•••
Acushnet
Now we’re heading north to Acushnet for two stops officially on the trail, but we KNOW there are more. Keep your eyes open.
•••
11: 11 Monmouth Avenue/Amygdala (Feel the Fear) Haunt.

11 Monmouth Ave., Acushnet. Submitted photo.
The spirits shall rise! Head to Middle Road and then to Monmouth, just a few blocks after the police station, so you can be greeted by all manor of lovely ladies and fine gentlemen [ahem]. See spooky lights and more…walk around! You will see our bright neon signs at the end of our street! Come by On Halloween! Candy and candy bags will be handed out and all monsters will be out! Open from 5–10 p.m. and on Halloween open until…whenever. Submitted photo.
•••
12: 18 Village Ave.

18 Village Ave., Acushnet.
Now you turn around and head back to Main Street to 18 Village Ave. This drive-by is lit up at dusk until midnight. Feel free to take pictures from a safe distance.
On Halloween, walk up for a treat handed out by the guardians of the graveyard, if you dare to approach them! Submitted photo.
Dartmouth
Head west young brave hearts to Dartmouth, where we have one address, but here are others, we are sure!
•••
13: Stonewall Manor at 10 Stonewall Drive

10 Stonewall Dr., Dartmouth. Submitted photo.
The 2026 edition of Stonewall Manor is fully up and running. Lit nightly (weather peritting) until 11:00 PM through Halloween. Beware the flying ghost! Submitted photo.
•••
New Bedford
And last, but definitely not least, our New Bedford stop. In the Sassaquin area of the city, so you KNOW there are more spooks out there.
•••
14: 991 Crescent St.

991 Crescent St., New Bedford. Submited photo.
Ooo…it looks like the whole street is being terrorized here. The yard will come alive on October 23, 24 and 31, 6-9 p.m. We support our Charity, “Handle with G Love” collecting winter wear for kids, coats, hats, gloves, scarves and more. Come for the scares, support our kids.. Submitted photo.
???Mattapoisett???
Now we’re heading deep into the dark. We have no confirmed addresses this year, but, well…if you grew up around here, you KNOW Wolf Island Road is haunted. Just drive by.
