The Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum, 396 County St., New Bedford, will be presenting a new way to explore the museum by opening up the attic and cupola to visitors.
On Sat., 10/17 and Sat., 11/1414 from 1pm – 3pm, visitors will be able to explore the attic of the RJD and trek up to the cupola, which provides a 360 degree view of New Bedford.
Guests can drop in anytime during the 1pm to 3pm timeframe to experience the special attic excursion. Featuring a new exhibition that details the lives of domestic staff from the Jones era, visitors will learn about the space which was once home to the people who ran the house and enjoy one of the best views of New Bedford. The cupola of the mansion, added during the Jones occupancy, gave residents a direct view of the port of New Bedford. Now, this view can be seen by the general public in this behind-the-scenes look at the RJD attic.
Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $5 on top of regular admission. Museum admission for adults is $8, seniors and students are $6, and children under the age of 17 are free. As always, members of the museum get into the museum for free.
