Haunting at the Fort…follow if you dare

October 7, 2026 by Staff Writer

Press Release

What happens when the sun goes down at Fort Phoenix?

On October 14, the Fairhaven Village Militia invites the brave — and the curious — to find out with Hauntings at the Fort, a special edition of the Militia’s Evenings at the Fort program.

Beginning at dusk, approximately 5:30 p.m., guests will be led into the past for an evening of chilling tales inspired by Fort Phoenix’s history, stories of the soldiers who once stood watch, and local legends passed down through the years.

Follow the Militia into the past… if you dare.

While the evening draws inspiration from the history of Fort Phoenix and the Revolutionary War era, the ghostly stories and supernatural tales are presented as folklore, legend, and theatrical storytelling — not as claims of documented paranormal events. While the ghostly tales are purely imaginative, the event is designed to entertain while inspiring visitors to explore the genuine history behind this historic site.

For this special edition of Evenings at the Fort, however, history takes a darker turn.

With Fort Phoenix shrouded in darkness and stories of the past echoing through its grounds, visitors will discover another side of the historic site — one filled with mystery, folklore, forgotten stories, and perhaps a few spirits, if you choose to believe.

Important Attendance Information: FREE advance registration is strictly required for entry to this event. Due to limited capacity and safety considerations in the fort after dark, unregistered walk-ins may not have the opportunity to participate.

The Fairhaven Village Militia is a nonprofit organization made up of volunteer historical reenactors dedicated to bringing the Revolutionary War era to life. Through living history, demonstrations, storytelling, and educational programs, the Militia offers visitors a glimpse into what life was like in the 18th century.
