The Open Air Market at Livesey Park continues to offer local produce, home made goods, and a variety of products by local artisans every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of Glenhaven and Parker, under the trees (See page 5 for other outdoor markets).
This past Saturday, vendors said the morning was brisk, but then traffic tapered off, which was not a big surprise considering the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament in New Bedford was happening, which is the biggest feast of its kind in the world.
Still, some vendors said they did well. Mrs. Jackson, of course, with her homemade breads and sweets, sold out almost completely by about 2 p.m. And over at the Book N Brew, they sold more than 100 books and lots of coffee.
Nic and Shelby at Milk and Magic, said they are a new business, selling clothing and other items for nursing moms. It was only their second time at the market, and young’uns are most definitely welcome at their booth.
“I do very well here,” said Ruthy of Puptown Bakery, which makes doggie treats.
She said the fee is low and, “The people are nice, too.”
The line-up changes every week, although there are the regulars, like Mama’s Cozies and Roxanne’s Garden Center.
At PJ’s Fine Foods, which makes small-batch, all natural dips, jellies, and more, Christina said it she needed to taste them all.
It was her first time, she said, “But it will not be my last.”
“But it won’t be my last,” she said.
“It’s good for them and good for me,” said Gabriela Barbosa of Cabral Family Farm. “They eat healthy.”
