Early voting begins for primary

Early voting has begun in Massa­chu­setts for the state primary election on Tuesday, 9/1/26. Offices on the ballot include all statewide positions, U.S. Senator, U.S. Repre­sentative and District Attorney. 

In the primary election, voters need to pick a ballot based on party. The winner of each primary in each party will face off against each other in the general election on 11/3.

Last day to register to vote is Saturday, 8/22, at 5 p.m. Early voting is allowed from 8/22 through 8/28. Absentee voting is also available statewide through 8/28. Last day to apply for a Vote-By-Mail application is 8/25 at 5 p.m.

To verify if you are registered to vote, and to find information on how to register to vote, you may visit the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s web­site: www.sec.state.ma.us/ele. Register to vote online by visiting: www.RegisterToVoteMA.com or visit your Town/City Clerk’s office (see below).

On election day, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. statewide.

Acushnet

Early voting in Acushnet can be done at the Parting Ways Building (Town Clerk’s Office), 130 Main St. on the following days/times:

• Sat., Aug. 22, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

• Mon., Aug. 24, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

• Tues., Aug. 25, 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

• Wed., Aug. 26, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  

• Thurs., Aug. 27, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

• Fri., 8/28, 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 

On election day, all precincts vote at Acushnet Elementary School, 800 Middle Road.

Fairhaven

Early voting  in Fairhaven is at the Town Clerk’s Office in Town Hall, 40 Center St. on 

• Sat., 8/22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 

• Mon., 8/24, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

• Tues., 8/25, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

• Wed., 8/26, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

• Thurs., 8/27, 7:30 a.m. to  4:30 p.m.

• Fri., 8/28, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. 

On election day, all precincts vote at the Fairhaven Recreation Center, 227 Huttleston Ave. (near Stop & Shop).

New Bedford

Early voting will take place daily from Saturday, Aug. 22, to Friday, Aug. 28, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the third floor of the Main Public Library, 613 Pleasant St., located in Downtown New Bedford.

Any New Bedford resident who is uncertain about their voting status or designated polling location, has changed their address since the last election, or would like to request an absentee/mail-in ballot should con­tact the Board of Election Commis­sioners at 508-979-1420.

The Elections Office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mail-in/absentee ballots can be requested by:

• Responding to the postcards sent to registered voters from the Mass. Secretary of State’s Office.

• Visiting the Election Commission page on the City’s website, www.newbedford-ma.gov/election-commission.

• Visiting the Elections Office at City Hall (133 William St., Room 114).

• Calling the City’s Elections Office at 508-979-1420.
