Back by popular demand, the 2026 Scallopalooza Scallop Shucking Contest will be happening this summer on Thursday, August 13, from 5-8 PM at 38 Bethel Street in front of the Fishing Heritage Center. Scallopalooza is our nationally-recognized celebration of New Bedford’s commercial scallop industry, bringing together local seafood lovers, fishing families, businesses, and community members for an evening of scallop shucking, live music, local vendors, and waterfront culture.
FREE. Watch local fishermen compete for the title of New Bedford’s best shucker starting at 6:30pm! The event will also include live music
