Homecoming packs ’em in

July 1, 2026 by Staff Writer

Fairhaven’s 49th Homecoming Day Fair, sponsored by the Fairhaven Improvement Association, drew in a crowd that packed the streets around Town Hall on Saturday 6/27/26. The fair is best known for connecting people who have not seen each other in a long time, often since the previous year’s Homecoming.

Parking was tight for blocks around and the streets filled up with people happy to spend some money at the vendor and food booths.

Marcia Voccio of Marcia Makes it said she was “very happy with sales.” She makes paper flower arrangements, hand cutting each paper flower herself.

Across the street, Fairhaven resident, Dakota DeForge said she was also making some sales of her pyrographic (wood burning) creations at Seaside Sirens,” where she uses driftwood for many of her creations.

It was her first time selling at Homecoming.

“Ive been a patron my entire life,” she said.

Author and artist, Len Sandler, who is a regular, said he did well selling his books and his artwork.

The food vendors mostly had healthy lines, and the kids area had some fun stuff going on. Live music started at noon and continued throughout the day by different artists.

The event also included an art show on the lawn of the Unitarian church.

No rides in the antique fire trucks this year, though, due to maintenance issues on the two trucks.

Volunteers from the Fairhaven Protecting Society, which takes care of the trucks, said the group is actively raising money to repair them.
