Thanks to the Fire Department for Shelter Help
I wish to acknowledge the Fairhaven Fire Department who got me to and from the shelter during the recent Nor’easter Bomb Cyclone.
I could have braved the frigid situation at home without heat, electricity, or any means of communication. But as the storm progressed and the 30+ inches of snow blocked my door, I realized that I was quickly becoming trapped.
To my delight I found the all-volunteer staff of the Fairhaven Emergency Preparedness at the Hastings Middle School welcoming beyond my expectations. My overnight stay was met with kindness, warmth and comfort food served with a smile.
I witnessed firsthand the power of our Fairhaven community to come together to ensure the safety of everyone. I am glad I did and I am grateful.
