A whopper of a snowstorm dumped more than 10 inches of snow on Fairhaven and surrounding towns last weekend. The snow started falling late morning on Sunday and kept going through the afternoon on Monday. After that 10 inches landed, a another inch or so dropped on Monday night, giving Fairhaven a total of 11 inches, and leaving Gloucester with a whopping 27 inches. Acushnet got 13 inches, New Bedford got 12.
Schools were closed on Monday and Tuesday, government offices were closed on Monday. Trash pickup was delayed a day.
Parking bans went into effect in Acushnet, Fairhaven and New Bedford.
The region is looking at another possible storm this coming Sunday with the forecast predicting a similar amount of snow.
Meanwhile, temperatures are in the teens and below zero with the wind chill.
So, if you haven’t finished clearing out snow on your property, now is the time to do it before the next storm.
The Neighb News headed out to Fort Phoenix on Monday, after the snow hit the 10 inch mark, and found a bunch of hardy snow lovers sledding on the various hills.
