ORR Thanks State For Funding
I am writing to express my sincere thanks to the state legislators who have supported much-needed improvements to the Old Rochester Regional School District’s athletic facilities.
In 2020, I worked with then Representative William Strauss to advocate for an earmark dedicated to improving our athletic fields. That funding, awarded at the end of the legislative session, is now making possible long-awaited upgrades that will benefit our student-athletes and the broader community for years to come. I am grateful for Bill’s partnership and commitment to this project.
I would also like to extend my thanks to Representative Mark Sylvia and Senator Michael Rodrigues, with whom I recently worked to advocate for additional support for our district. Their efforts during the 2025 legislative session resulted in a $30,000 grant for important safety and equipment upgrades in the ORR gymnasium. These improvements will directly benefit the students who use this space every day.
I write this letter not on behalf of the School Committee, but as a member of the committee and as a constituent who cares deeply about our schools and the opportunities we provide to our students. I am grateful for the collaboration from our state legislators and remain committed to advocating for the resources our district needs to thrive.
Frances-Feliz Kearns, Mattapoisett, ORR School Committee
