The bid to build a new $288 million complex failed for Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School (OC) in a vote across all five member communities on 11/18/25.
Acushnet voters sent a resounding “no” 1459 to 479, with 22% of registered voters voting.
Carver, Lakeville, Mattapoisett, and Rochester also voted, with a simple majority of the aggregate vote required for the school to be able to move forward.
In a statement on Facebook, OC acknowledged that the vote failed, thanked supporters and said in the coming months, “We will reflect on the feedback and consider our next steps.”
In Carver, just under 5.5% of registered voters turned out, with 284 voting no and 246 voting yes.
In Lakeville, the vote was 478 against and 424 in favor, with 9.2% of voters turnout out.
The ballot question also failed in Rochester, by a vote of 689 to 503. Turnout percentage was not available.
The results from Matapoisett were not available by press time.
