No, no, say it ain’t so!
We turn back the clocks this weekend. Sunday starts the dark days…when it gets really dark by, like…5. Ugh.
The annual Haunted Town Hall is tonight, 10/30. See the ad on the back cover for details. It’s always a fun event, for all age groups. Town Hall will be absolutely hopping.
We have some sad news this week. Geraldine Cox, matriarch of the Cox family, of Dorothy Cox’s Chocolate fame, has passed away. She was a fixture at so many events since I started this paper 20 years ago. Cox’s chocolates are at almost all our outdoor events, selling cold drinks, ice cream, chocolate goodies, and so much more. And they donate a lot to events and fundraisers to help nonprofits.
Mrs. Cox will be missed by many.
Rest in peace, Mrs. Cox. I will think of you every time I go to the shop or, maybe even every time I eat a piece of quality chocolate.
On another note…this is a little different.
May I make a plea to my readers? Please don’t try to help us by taking papers from one place and taking them to another place. If you have a place that you think we should add to our delivery list let us know.
Please don’t take it upon yourself to deliver our papers, especially to places we already deliver to.
Someone took a large stack from somewhere and put it at a restaurant in New Bedford. It’s actually a restaurant that we already deliver to. That’s how we know, because when my delivery person got there, she saw a stack had already been put there.
Please, please, please don’t do that. We print 4280 papers that are delivered to more than 200 places. We have them all measured out. When you take more than just a few from one place you are messin’ up the works! You are depriving people of getting the paper at their regular stop.
So, please, if there is a place you think we should be dropping papers in, let us know. We will contact the owner/manager and get permissiont to drop there.
There’s a bunch of fun stuff in here, of course: Halloween Horribles, StoryWalk, Oktoberfest, Southcoast Pinkout, and a 100-year old! We also have Select Board coverage for you on page 4; and an overview of the upcoming Acushnet Town Meeting on page 3.
Be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.
Until next week, then, see ya,
