Anthime Brunette
Anthime E Brunette, age 84 of Fairhaven, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on October 7, 2025.
He was a lifelong resident of Fairhaven, MA, and took pride in his service in the Navy. Anthime served on the USS Claude Jones (DE-1033) and the USS Collette (DD-730) during the Vietnam War. When he returned, he got his Bachelor of Science from Southeastern Mass University.
He was married to Sylvia Brunette and is survived by his three children, Robert Brunette, Peter Brunette, and Laura Sadowsky, as well as his five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Anthime was well known on the waterfront, having been the owner of the Fishing Vessel Phoenix and captain of several other Scallopers throughout the years. When he retired from fishing after thirty years, he went to work in Woods Hole for NOAA for eleven years.
He retired at Sixty-Two from NOAA and umpired girls’ softball in his spare time. He was an avid sports fan and was an active member of the Livesy Club of Fairhaven and a committee member for the Fairhaven High Hall of Fame.
Anthime was well known in the area through his volunteering with various town organizations. He will be missed by many.
