We had another political assassination in this country. Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was murdered by an assassin’s bullet. It was wrong when it was liberal lawmakers who were killed in  Minnesota in June. It is wrong now, when it is a conservative.

I do not care about what anyone’s politics are. We are not supposed to be shooting people because we don’t like them or their politics.

We vote against them. We protest against them. We speak against them. We do not commit violence against them.

I will not even for a second talk about the merits, or lack thereof, of Mr. Kirk’s politics. It does not matter.

We are supposed to be better than this.

We have some meeting coverage for you this week. The Fairhaven Select Board heard about the Fairhaven police program to start wearing body cameras very soon. See page 3 for that.

The last Huttleston Harborfest of the season will be a doozy! (See page 5 and ad on page 20). It will be a medieval faire with all kinds of cool dress-up stuff going on. And at night, a free showing of “A Knight’s Tale” with  Oscar winning writer/director (and local guy) Brian Helgeland on hand to introduce the movie.

What fun, huh?

Acushnet residents showed how tough they are at the Apple Peach Festival (see page 12). They held their parade even though the skies threatened rain. Then… it all came down on ’em, but they kept going.

Ah…gotta love a summer rain.

There’s other stuff in here, of course, including the town auction notice (see page 5). I didn’t have room to list everything here, but I’ll put it on the website.

While you’re paging through, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.

Until next week, then, see ya,

Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
