The North Fairhaven Improvement Association’s Open Air Market at Livesey Park still has a few weeks left on the schedule for those who have not yet managed to get there. The market runs every Saturday through September 27, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., under the trees at Livesey Park at the corner of Glen Haven Avenue and Parker Street.
Joni Rhoads of the Rescue Cafe said she always does well selling her home made pastries, pointing out that she was almost sold out.
“Chris (Richard) has made it very convenient for the vendors,” said Ms. Roads. “It’s also very affordable.”
Stephanie Cournoyer went to the market with her husband, Matt, and their kids. Ms. Cournoyer said she wanted to get some of Mrs. Jackson’s jalapeno bread. While they were there, the kids noticed the skate park, so they went home and got their gear.
“We came back for the skate park and spotted the cornhole (board),” said Matt.
So, while the kids used the park, Half Blind Woodworking made a sale.
Vendors said it was pretty busy in the morning, but tapered off in the afternoon. Most said sales were pretty good.
Lisa and Brian Belitcher just moved to Fairhaven from the Cape for retirement. They were selling watercolor note cards, bird houses, Italian dish cloths, and other hand made items.
It is “always a pleasure,” said Lisa, whether they sell a lot of items or not.
On Saturday the weather was “magnificent,” she said, so it was okay they did not sell as much as when they were there in July.
“It’s much nicer than the Cape,” Brian said of Fairhaven.
“We love it here,” said Lisa.
As for lunch, Hanami Tea House was the only hot option, with Japanese dumplings and BBQ pork.
Other food options included baked goods from different vendors, and produce from Barbosa Farm.
