Summer! Where have you gone? It’s almost back-to-school time. YIKES! Next week the kids start heading back to class.

Then it’s OLOA Festa time (see page 3). Some changes are in store for this year. It’s a shame that a few idiots had to ruin it for the rest of us. The carefree openness of past years is gone. Now it’s metal detectors and bag searches. I am not happy that I will have to leave my trusty pepperspray behind. There really ought to be an exception for personal protection devices. But, I guess that’s an argument for another day.

It’s not that we are unsafe on the feast grounds, of course. It’s getting to and from them. That’s always the case, when going to any event, especially at big venues.

The wrong people ending up paying the price for so-called safety.

Meanwhile the Big Pinocchio in the White House continues terrorizing citizens and residents of this once-great country with his abuse of the military as police officers. Ridiculous and performative. The streets of DC are empty, but he calls that safe.

What was it that Benjamin Franklin said: “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Yet, here we are. Old Ben is rolling in his grave.

We have an update on the Atlas Tack property on page 4 and a couple of pictures of the collapsed roof. Wow. That’s one crazy looking mess.

We also have a bunch of fun stuff (as we always do, despite the claims of some whiners). There’s Touch A Truck on page 12 and Teddy Bear on page 13. There’s also a great little piece on young Ashton Conlon who raises money for the animals on page 11; and a fun one about a father and son who played football together (page 14).

There’s other stuff in here, of course. While you’re paging through, be sure to notice who our advertisers are so you can tell them you saw their ads in the Neighb News.

Until next week, then, see ya,

Glory to Ukraine!
Glory to the Heroes!
