Saying Goodbye
Dear Frankie,
Rufus, the mayor of the dog park, informed us this morning that our friend Bella had passed away.
Bella was awesome. She was as smart as a whip, and gorgeous — a real canine cupcake. She was also generous to a fault.
What do you do when a friend dies? How can I tell Bella what she meant to me, and that I miss her wicked terrible?
Francis
Dear Francis,
After someone dies, you can’t tell them how you feel about them. That’s why telling your friends how you feel about them when they are alive is so important.
You can, however, tell Bella’s friends and parents what Bella meant to you.
Ask Rufus to organize a memorial service at the park for Bella’s friends and family, and let them know that time will be set aside for anyone who would like to share their thoughts about Bella.
I’m sorry you lost your friend; it stinks losing a pal.
Best, Frankie
