Cleanup Palmers Island

June 4, 2025 by Staff Writer

Volunteers needed, Sat., 6/7, 9 a.m. to noon. Six-acre Palmers Island, located on the Acushnet River on the west side entrance to New Bedford Harbor has been the scene of great heroism and tragedy. The lighthouse was once considered one of New England’s most picturesque.

Palmers Island is now home to a local park and offers beach access in need of some TLC, “Trash & Litter Control”. Many volunteers are needed to make Palmers Island the beautiful island nature intended it to be.

This will be a combined cleanup with Operation Clean Sweep and Be The Solution to Pollution.

You can pre-register online.

Free t-shirts to all volunteers; Gloves and tools provided; Wear closed-toe shoes; Review the safety notes; Walk-ins Welcome; Free pizza from Dominos!
