Step back in time as you experience a piece of living history at the very site where early American revolutionaries took their stand against the tyrannies of the British Colony!
Join the Fairhaven Village Militia at their Spring Encampment for a weekend of living history at Fort Phoenix! Walk among costumed reenactors as they demonstrate flintlock musket drills, military training, and colonial crafts such as tin smithing, leatherworking, sewing, and fire starting. Watch food being prepared over an open campfire and learn about life in 1770s Fairhaven. There will be a firing of the Fort’s five large seacoast cannons at dusk on Saturday Evening (approx. 8pm).
There will be musket firing on the half hour and firing of a small field cannon on the hour throughout the day. The Fort Phoenix bunker will be open for tours.
The encampment will begin on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 10:00 am to Sunday, June 8, 2025 12:00 pm.
Evenings at the Fort
The Militia will also be hosting “Evenings at the Fort” for the 2025 summer season. The dates for the 2025 season are: June 18, July 16, and August 20. Time is 5-8pm
There will be a single firing of a large seacoast cannon at 6:30 pm
This immersive event each month offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of Fort Phoenix and the role Fairhaven played in the American Revolution. Talk to period costumed men and women about the Fort’s history and life in the 1770s. The Fort Phoenix bunker will be open for tours.
