A variety of academic scholarships have been awarded to graduating seniors who are continuing their education beyond high school.

Fairhaven Historical Society
Thanks to a generous donor, the Fairhaven Historical Society this year is awarding two Enrique Goytizolo scholarships of $1,500 each to college-bound seniors at Fairhaven High School.
• Carlie Francis. At Fairhaven High School, Carlie Francis captained both her Field Hockey and Lacrosse teams and was vice president of the National Honor Society. She plans to enter the six-year pharmacy program at Western New England University.
• Adam Marashio. Inspired by the films using Fairhaven as a setting, and by the creativity of the town’s own filmmakers, Adam Marashio hopes his college years will lead him to a career in film, adding to
the town’s screen presence.
Fairhaven Dollars for Scholars
Fairhaven Dollars for Scholars held its annual Awards Ceremony on May 21, 2025 in the Fairhaven Town Hall Auditorium. In front of family, friends, community partners, benefactors and guests, students were awarded 45 scholarships. Fairhaven Dollars for Scholars, a 100% volunteer driven chapter of Scholarship America is a 501c3 that supports academic success in our community.

SC Community Foundation
On May 20, the SouthCoast Community Foundation hosted the 24th annual Jacobs Family Scholarship Awards Ceremony at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, honoring five outstanding New Bedford high school seniors for their academic excellence, leadership, and community commitment.
The ceremony honored the generosity and legacy of Dr. Irwin M. Jacobs, a New Bedford native, co-founder of Qualcomm, and globally recognized philanthropist. Dr. Jacobs returned to his hometown for the occasion and addressed the audience with reflections on his journey from New Bedford High School to pioneering achievements in technology and philanthropy.
Each of this year’s Jacobs Scholars will receive a $40,000 scholarship to support their college education:
• Kyleah Bodden, New Bedford High School: Syracuse University
• Jaelyn Rodericks, New Bedford High School: Harvard University
• Bao Ta, New Bedford High School: Bridgewater State University
• Veronika Horsky, Global Learning Charter Public School: UMass Amherst
• Ian Lopes, Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School: Roger Williams University
