GNB Voc-Tech & NBHS launch two new programs

Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School (GNB Voc-Tech) and New Bedford High School (NBHS) are excited to announce the expansion of their innovative After Dark Program, now offering Carpentry and Plumbing pathways for students. This collabo­ra­tion provides NBHS students with enhanced opportuni­ties for hands-on technical education while main­taining their academic studies.

The After Dark Program is designed to prepare students for success in high-demand, skilled trades through a combination of academic rigor and technical training. Beginning in 11th grade, participating NBHS students will attend their academic classes during the regular school day and transition to GNB Voc-Tech Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Carpentry or Plumbing. 

Program Highlights: 

● Carpentry: Students will gain expertise in blueprint reading, construction techniques, framing, finishing carpentry, and more. 

● Plumbing: Students will learn essential skills such as pipefitting, water and heating systems installa­tion, and advanced troubleshooting techniques. 

Student Benefits Include: 

● Hands-on training in state-of-the-art facilities 

● Preparation for industry-recognized certifications 

● Exposure to real-world problem-solving in high-demand industries 

● Opportunities for advanced course­work and skill development 

● Increased job and apprenticeship opportunities after graduation 

How to Apply:

The After Dark Program requires a two-year commitment, starting in the 11th grade. Interested students should contact their NBHS guidance counselor. Don’t miss the opportunity to gain a competitive edge in Carpentry or Plumbing!
